So my tankmates are all good buddies and I've had no problems as far as sickness or spiking. All is good but I keep reading that cories should be in larger groups. 6 being best but 3 being an ideal minimum. I have in a 10 gallon one male betta one ADF and 2 bronze cories. I was thinking of getting a 3rd and if I do get a 3rd I'd get a julii or sterbai. I find their patterns very pretty and it'd be fun to have different kinds. Anyway wondering if different types would school and how many I could safely fit in with a 10 with the other tankmates. I'd probably just get 1 and 2 at the most. Just curious thanks

2 more corys would be fine in my book -- but I tend to put more fish in a tank than other folks would. And usually corys from different species will school together. Get sterbai -- they are my favorites.

2 would be fine even more possibly depending on how much you change your water.

I change my water once a week about 15%. I change it even with no ammonia or nitrite, I just do it because nothing bad about freshwater At anyrate I'll get 2 at the most, because of the ADF at feeding times. Allthough I have a great way of doing it. I put flake or pellet food in first to distract the other fish, then in my fish net I put in 1/2 a block of bloodworms and rest it right in front of him. Once he smells it he goes to the net and he gets all the worms. When I think he's had enough I just dump the rest in for the other guys Just a little tip on the side, for those of you that get frustrated hand feeding ADF's. That's the best way I've figured out how to do it. At anyrate thanks for the advise I'll get 2 sterbai's they are neat

David Lass (5/5/2008) 2 more corys would be fine in my book -- but I tend to put more fish in a tank than other folks would. And usually corys from different species will school together. Get sterbai -- they are my favorites. From my expieriences, that's only half true. I had an albino cory and 2 peppered cories (sold as paleatus cories, took me awhile to find the non-Latin name ) The two peppered cories would swim together, but leave the albino out. Now I have 2 albinos, and they swim together all the time. But if you had 1 peppered, 1 pygmy, and 1 albino, they would all swim together. That's just one of my random theories.

I suspect it has something to do with how similar the different species look. Cories that look really similar would probably be more likely to school.

I have 5 cories, 2 bronze and 3 sterbai. I find that the 2 bronze swim together and the 3 sterbai swim together.
