I've just grabbed a couple nice rocks and a piece of driftwood from the beach ( from a freshwater lake ) and I would like to put them into my new 10 gallon. Is there anything I should do before I put them in or is just rinsing them off a couple times good?

The tank right now only has gravel and water in it, and soon I will start the cycling process.

Boil them for eight hours and that should kill anything dangerous and make the driftwood sink (depending on how dry and dense the wood is it may take longer).
