I was thinking about getting a few ghost shrimp to add to my small 2.5gallon tank with my male Betta fish. I was just curious if that would be an ok thing to do. and if so, what all would I need for the shrimp to make them feel comfortable. and any other hint/tips/advice on taking care of them would be appreciated.

They would probably be eaten. Amano shrimp would be a better choice since they grow larger (a little over an inch) and they eat algae too.

| so I went and got a ghost shrimp last week. and so far it's doing good. my betta only investigated it for a few minutes but then i guess he decided that the shrimp wasn't a big deal and now ignores it. i'm just curious as to what to feed it. i've been putting in some flakes (the guy at the store suggested that i feed it flakes) but i don't know if he's really eating them, because my betta has now decided that he enjoys flakes (compared to when i first got him he wouldn't touch them, silly betta) and so i'm just wondering if anyone has some tips on what to feed ghost shrimp. i know that they kinda clean up the tanks and eat any algea that they find but my tank is pretty clean and so i'm just wanting to make sure that my new little shrimp will get plenty to eat.

Don't worry, it will eat plenty. I wouldn't feed extra to make sure it eats because it will start polluting the tank. They eat very little and are fine just eating what the betta misses.

If you want to make sure he is getting enough to eat you could occationally drop a piece of algea wafer in the tank but I think he should find plenty of food without that.
My Tanks:15 gallon: 1 female red wag platy, 1 female sunburst play, 2 black skirted tetras, 1 plecosomas, 1 mystery snail 3 gallon: 1 male crowntail betta, 1 gold mystery snail 1 gallon cycleing: Hopefully crowntail female betta soon! Pond: 1 Map turtle, asorted minnows Other pets..... 3 rabbits, 2 red ear sliders, chickens, ducks, horse......
