| i have a sebae clown and wanted to add a percula clown. i know the general rule is that you cant keep different clowns together but i've seen it done in other tanks. is this just a try it and see situation?

There isn't one answer to your question. Size of the tank has a lot to do with it. If the tank's big enough for them to have thier own space without compitition, things have a better chance. (Sorry, not recalling the size of your tank off the top of my head.) Kinda along the same lines, the amount of shelter/hiding places will make a difference. And fish, like people, have different temperments. So your "try and see" statement isn't without validity. But bear in mind that clownfishes are in the same familly as damsels, in otherwords, not the most friendly fishes to start with. You could give it a try, but have a back-up paln in place in case it doesn't work out. Wouldn't want either fish to come out of it injured.

I totally agree...it has to do with a lot of factors (tank size being among the most important).
