| I have a 6 gallon hex with 3 gold danios and 3 zebra danios. I wanna know if there is a snail or shrimp (or other) that I could add that would be safe. Thanks!

That's already a very small tank for the fish you have. Danios are very active and grow to two inches, so they should really be in a minimum 24 inch long tank so they have room to swim. A 10g would be passable (but not something I would personally keep them in long term), but the six gallon–especially given that it is a hex–is really too small. The shrimp won't really add much to the bioload, so you could add some (ghost shrimp, cherry shrimp, bumblebee shrimp, amano shrimp, etc would all be fine), but the danios should be moved out in favor of a more appropriately sized and less active type of fish.

| Thank you for the reply. I thought that I was stocked okay as the danios are only about an inch (very small fish) and are a year -old. I thought they were full grown. I will try to move them to a larger tank. I would hate to not be treating them right. Is there a certain # to have? I was told at least 6, so I got six. If I go to a large tank can I have a larger school? Thanks again. Almost forgot, what would be a more appropriate fish for the 6gallon? I guess a betta might work, but the filter has some serious water movement that I don't think it would like. A school of tetras?

I'd try to avoid schooling fish since it is a really small tank and you need at least six of them. A dwarf gourami or betta would probably be good, though if the filter is really strong they may not like it. I'd do something like 3-4 guppies (all male to avoid breeding or one male and two to three females if you are willing to set up another tank to raise fry in). Another cool option might be 3 dwarf puffers (one male and two female) if you put in lots of plants for cover.
And you do have enough danios but if you wanted more and went with at least a 20g tank you could add a few more without a problem. Some bottom feeders like cories might be nice in a larger set up too.

I think that a betta would be good to add. Like Hailey said, stay away from schoolers. Another anabantoid that could work in your 6 gallon is a paradise fish. They are very hardy and attractive. One of their downsides is that they are a little agressive, so if you want to put in some inverts, go with something robust.
