Has anybody tried Big Al's online's brand fertilizer, and did you use any other fertilizers in addition to it(such as trace elements)?

Hi I don't know much about this subject but from reading other aquarium forums people have said Flourish is a good one.

Thanks for the reply!  I tried the jungle laboratories fertilizer for a while, but got tired of the small bottle, and the price of big al's online fertilizer was much better for my checkbook, and haven't had any problems with it yet.  I'll have to use it for a few months I guess, and see if it works out.  I'd try PMDD(poor man's dosing drops), but can't keep that much lying around, and can't afford that much at one time to make it.  Besides, I'm not a chemist.  Thanks, again!

PMDD can be mixed up in small batches and the dry chemicals kept in a cool, dry place (in tightly sealed containers) until you need to mix more. I did it this way a few years ago and it was fine. And it's easy to mix with instructions you can find online. It is by far the cheapest way to get fertilizer if you are going to be using it a lot (I'm not sure how well it works out if you only fertilize a small tank once a week or something...it would probably take a while to recoup the investment). It also allows you to add just what you need, like nitrate only t the level you want rather than however it comes in the bottle, which could be too little or too much.

Yeah, I only have two 29 gallon planted tanks, and I only need to fertilize once a week.  I think it just wouldn't be worth it for me.  Thanks though.
