I have a brand new 75 gallon tank and i am looking to buy a filter but there are so many choices that i don't know what to buy. Could you give me some suggestions of a filter set up big enough for a 75 gallon tank, 6 to 10 medium African cichlids, about 4 to 7 plants, and within a budget of 60$.and i do have room for a canister filter but i cant find one in the size i need or 60$ Thanks

I'm no expert on equipment, but I would go canister or wet-dry with those fish, and I'd look for one used on ebay or craigslist so you can stay within your budget (you're unlikely to find a wet-dry for that price, but you never know...a canister would be fairly easy to find though). Shopping for decent new filters that could handle that bioload with that budget will be very difficult.

Also, please refrain from posting the same question more than once. I think this one has been posted in several sections of the forum at least four or five times. Be patient and someone will get back to you without you needing to post more than once.

They, actually, have a canister filter advertised in Aquarium fish international for $49.50.  I don't have specifications on flow rate or anything.  It's on page 91, and the company selling it is aquatraders.com  Is that helpful?  (selected items free shipping, but I don't know if that's one of them, you could easily check online, after reading this!)
