the rest of my fish are doing great! And the male platy isn't bothering the female so I don't think that I have to get another.

But something that has been bothering me lately is the memory of going to wallmart and seeing a poor oscar fish with terrible fin rot! Isn't there laws that should prohibit this kind of things?

If people could support those laws...

Honestly.....there should be! I sent an email once to PETA about the terrible conditions of the fish sold at Wal-Mart...around here, in Chicago...no Wal-mart has fish for sale...so maybe something good did come out of my email.....I wonder....oh, and I walked into my local Petco the other day to get some silver mollies.....bad idea....every...single...fish...had some sort of disease....every individual specimen had ich. and I saw a goldfish with a parasite hanging off his gill plate.....these people have no idea what they're doing...and another thing. y'know those cups they put fish in to acclimate them to an aquarium after a shipment, well, this one had dead fish in it!! indicating, that whoever put that cup in there, "forgot" about the fish and let them die.....same with the bettas on the shelves....it's really hard to kill a betta...mine was a gift from a friend, and he lived 2 1/2 years! I took extremely good care of him, changed his water every weekend, and then put him in my 29 gallon with that blasted CAE, who killed him....us fishkeepers, who are heartbroken over 1 fish, who know what love is.....Fish are not just things you put in water, feed, and do nothing else with them! Fish are living creatures, and the very thought of leaving even 1 to die makes my blood boil. We're not crazy, were DEDICATED! Fish are not just animals.......you can interact with, and even train them. And anyone who completely thinks the opposite, and totally disagrees, either hates fish, knows nothing about fish, and definitely does not deserve to keep something so precious ; the tiny heartbeat of a small life that is a fish. I'm SO dedicated...that I've never eaten a fish in the entire 15 years of my life!
