Other then the obvious things such as the aquarium and salt you will also need:

Test kits.
Hydrometer or refractometer is needed. The refractometer will cost more but is more accurate.

A good protein skimmer to provide the mechanical filtration.

Live rock at around 1-1.5lbs per gallon as well as live sand which will provide the biological filtration.

Power heads to create current inside the aquarium and provide water movement.

You don't have to have corals, many keep Fish only with live rock aquariums.

I personally don't recommend a fish only tank with no live rock.

I probably left some things out, but others will add their input.

SW tanks are not overly exspensive to maintain, but cost a fair penny to set up when compared to FW.

2 things are the first things you should get before you start in salt water.

1. A boat load of money

2 A big fat book on salt water fish.  Because when you ask what you need in salt water it could fill a book. so why not just buy one or two books they are great to look back on when you have a problem.  And give you a better shot at becoming a great salt water hobbiest.

love thy wife then thy pets
