| Should there be something that I do on a regular basis to help my plants grow, ex. food, co2 tabs,...... I forgot to put a bubble line in the tank. I'm not sure of all of the kinds of plants I have in the tank, most of them were from a bulb package from Petco. But I have 2 moss balls, 3 bamboo stalks, a ivy plant and 4 other types ( don't know what they are). My ivy's roots are turing really dark and almost mushy. They weren't like that when they were in a vase or when I transplanted them to a small betta tank. I also have bamboo plants, they aren't growing roots very fast. Are they slow growers or am I doing something wrong?

| Bamboo is not an aquatic plant. It can survive for a short time, but it won't thrive and will soon die. Remove it from your tank as soon as possible to prevent it from ruining the water quality. The "ivy" is also worrysome, since there aren't really many true aquatic plants that resemble terrestrial ivy. Can you snap a picture of it? It's very possible that this is a terrestrial plant that was sold as an aquatic - this happens a lot in some fish stores. That would explain its rapid decline, since most land plants can't handle water. They just drown. Pictures of your other plants would help a great deal. Like I mentioned when I replied to your other topic, all plants have different needs. Some are higher-maintenance than others, so I can't really give broad advice when their requirements are so variable. If you can't get a picture, either of your own tank or from something like a Google search, a detailed description of each plant would be really helpful. Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation.
