i am gonna have to say that is just awesome!!blew me away when i saw the room built around it..

as one that also has a tolerent spouse, who understands and at times supports my MTD, yours needs, roses, diamonds and a night on the town..

that is a great job..

Recent additions!!! I just recently added a small school (1 male and 6 female) of Lyretail anthias, all MAC certified. I've got a LFS (have to plug Gil Van Dykhuizen @ AquatiCreations Group) who I buy all of my fish from. I tell Gil what I'm looking for, he watches his order sheets for the fish (always either tank raised or MAC certified) and calls me when he orders. Great guy to deal with, top quallity animals!!

I've been real slack about posting new pics, need to update!!!

It has cost a fair amount but I've done things over a long period of time so it hasn't been a huge impact at any one point.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried to track the cost too closely. I'm not sure I REALLY want to know!!!

Thanks to all for your kind words. As I've said before, the most meaningful praise comes from those who also are aquarists. Only a fellow aqaurist (big tank or small tank/fresh or saltwater) knows what kind of work goes into creating and keeping a beautiful thirving tank. This project has been on going for about 18 months now and still isn't complete. Time and money are always constraints!!!

This is a dream come true, (my dream anyway) and one I'm thrilled to be able to share. I've kept many smaller reef systems over about 18 years, as well as built systems for other folks. I'd like to say that I'm slightly ahead of the learning curve, but definately still learning! I read periodicals and books every chance I get, always looking for new ideas or ways to improve my technique. It's a hobby that's both challenging and rewarding. I can't think of anything I enjoy doing more.

I'd like to post a special thanks to David Lass for his time spent writing the article about my tank. It was purely my pleasure David, thanks for all of your work. By the way, my birthday's in February. Having FAMA print the article in Feb would be the perfect birthday pressent!! As for the long range pic, I'll see what I can do. I haven't taken any pics for a while, I guess it's time for an update.

The tank owner and I have written an article for Freshwater and Marine Aquarium (FAMA), which will probably be in the February issue. Of course, in the fast-paced world of publishing, things can always change. But it will be in FAMA soon. It's a great tank, and it is amazing what Neptune did. And, as I can also testify, being a little crazy with fish does require a VERY understanding wife.

Added a few more recent pictures.

My Red Sea Sailfin Surgeonfish "DJ". Just a juvenile about 2" long, follows me around the tank like a puppy.

A nice orange Scolymia I found.

Funky green Acropora florida, or so I was told.

Nice 4" frag of what I think is Acropora pulchara.

I've added an aquacultured anemone (rose E. quadricolor) to my tank about a month ago. It moved slightly from it's original location on the first night but has since settled in and seems to be doing well. I'm feeding it about every 5 days with fresh shrimp, sea perch or frozen silversides. I've attempted a few pictures, but my camera isn't the best and won't allow me to zoom in as tightly as I'd like to, but here are a couple of attempts.

The fish is a Red Sea Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma desjardini). He's a real ham. I can't get near the tank with a cammera without him being right up to the glass.

Thanks, been a long time comin'. I've kept receipts, but I've sworn off adding 'em up until it's 100% complete. But as a guess, tank and equipment only, +/- $4,000. Some of the equipment I already had from previous systems. When I was in my 20s, my hobby was building hot rods. Reef tanks are actually pretty cheap in comparson.
