The filter should recover fairly quickly once the meds are out of the tank. For now the water changes are in fact your best choice.

ich

Hi,

I have only been keeping fish for about a month and a half. My lemon tetras looked like they got ich, although all the other fish in the tank looked fine. So I treated with NOX-ICH at half the dose because of the tetras & cory cats. My readings were all fine before. I think the medication messed up my biofilter because now I am having a problem with nitrites which I didn't have before, Ammonia is fine between 0 -0.5, so not bad. Nitites are around 0.8 or between 0-10 depending on which test kit I use. Nitrates between 10-20 again depending on if I use dip & read or liquid regeant. I have been doing partial water changes for the last several days to dilute the nitrite. I really don't know what else to do. My fish all seem fine & dandy, not stressed at all and the ich is gone from the lemon tetras. I would appreciate any info. Thanks,

                                                                         staffordmom
