That will just spell disaster for the tetras. And the Kissing gouramis really do need a bigger tank. If you found them a new home then all the rest of the fish could go together.

RE: Tetras and Gouramis

I will be taking care of the tank. That was another option I was pondering over. The fish in the tank now are about 3 years old and have been together since the beginning. The kissing gouramis haven't been aggressive towards any other fish. They are calm and do not fight over food.

I would rather start the tank again but not completely and get it to a manageable place.

RE: Tetras and Gouramis

The kissing gouramis and the knifefish need a much bigger tank anyway (like a 100+ gallon), and the kissing gouramis should be stocked only with moderately aggressive or large fish because they are pretty aggressive and grow to a foot long so they can be bullies. I would rehome those fish and stock the 55g with the rest of the fish, adding to the schools of tetras to make them more comfortable. This is of course only if you are going to take care of this tank.

Tetras and Gouramis

I have a 55 gal tank that I am thinking of either getting rid of or stocking with more fish and getting rid of my 29 gallon tank. In the 29 gal. I have 6 tetras (2 lemon, 2 black, and 2 green light of some sort), 2 cories, a baby pleco, and 2 Killifish. In the 55 gal. I have one African brown knife, 2 kissing gouramis, 2 blue gouramis, and 2 cory cats. I recently get rid of my large clown knife (it went to a local fish store). Would it be safe to keep the tetras with the gouramis or should I just get rid of the 55 gal all together?

The 55 gal. is not being taken care of because of its location and I do not have access to it all of the time. Unfortuanatly the water quality is horrendous and needs to have something done with it.
