My Parrot Cichlid is Sick

Unfortunately, I think (?) I know what you mean by "bent" -- although a photo would help us out. This happens to cichlids sometimes. The other day one of my 2.5" Hans discus started behaving like that -- nothing I could do, since I didn't know what the problem was. I am really against the practice of treating fish with anything, other than a water change, unless you know what you are treating for. My small discus was fine in a day or two -- I have no idea what the problem was. Hopefully yours will come out of it also.

RE: HELP!!! And the last time I had added anything new was about 3 yrs ago.

I noticed that he/she was upsetting the leaffish, and then the leaffish kinda "snapped" on him/her, and that is when I noticed that something was wrong.

RE: HELP!!! My Parrot Cichlid is Sick

Hello to all;

I need help and I want to know if there is any information out there for parrot cichlids.

I have 2 parrots in my 55 gallon aquarium (along with an African Leaf fish, 2 blk tetras, an Angel, an Australian Rainbow, a Green severum, and a spotted Raphael catfish).

This morning when I turned on the lights, I noticed that my older parrot fish was on the ground, and he was "bent in half". I have him in a net close to the surface (which seems to help a little bit), away from the others. My pH is 7.4, no NH3/4. no NO2, and my nitrates are at 10 ppm. My fitration systems are the Emperor 200B back filter (which is my primary biological filter with bio beads, and the bio wheel) and an Aquaclear 70 that has just the foam block and carbon pouch.

What can I do to help this "little" guy/gal out?

Thank you for your help.

Dayna Dax
