I hate to say it, but you may be in for a total tank teardown to get things right again. If this is the small tank with just a single fish in it though, you might as well turn this tank into a hospital tank, and either fit the clownfish into another tank (if I remember right you have more than one saltwater tank), or start up a new tank for it with the rock you have pulled out.

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

there are no inverts in the tank and i removed the live rock

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

I don't think you can use that medication in a tank with any invertebrates, which means all your organisms in the live rock and sand, any corals or anemones you have, any shrimp, snails, or crabs, etc will probably be killed if you use it. This is a quote directly from the product description: "Rid·Ich+ is not recommended for use in aquariums containing invertebrates and may cause severe stress or death to some of these animals." You need to treat it in another tank.

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

its in the same tank it waz in when i bot it my hospital tank is a 15 gallon that is broken with many cracks so ill just have to keep it in there

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

The clownfish with ich is in a hospital tank right? If so I would just treat with rid ich and do water changes in between doses. You have to treat until the spots have been gone for at least a week or they'll come right back.

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

my other clownfish has ich instead of clownfish disease so i rushed to the store to buy rid ich and so far the clownfish is racing every where then he stated to slow down.the only thing thats areating is the filter with no carbon or anything for that matter.do you think i should lower my salanity? should i do water changes?anything that can help me is much appreciated

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

Another good article is http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/ichparasiticdiseases/a/aabrooklynella.htm

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

the fish passed away today and the other fish seems to be ok and is not really feeding but its seems healthy i still do notwant to take a chance what is formalin 3 and is avaliable at petsmart or petco?

RE: clownfish disease or ich?

I'm sorry to say, that sounds like clownfish disease (aka brooklynella hostilis). I lost my whole tank (four fish at the time) to it almost a year ago, so I know how awful it is. Here is a resource that hopefully can help you in time. <a href="http://home2.pacific.net.ph/~sweetyummy42/brookynella.html" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://home2.pacific.net.ph/~sweetyummy42/brookynella.html</a>

clownfish disease or ich?

my clownfish has small white spots but does not look like ich it is pale in color and some of the white stuff is stringy like 1 mm it has affected my other clownfish and are both in quarintine i want to do a freshwater dip but how is it done?and what does my clownfish have ?.my paramentars are nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ammonia 0 and temp raised to 80F ph 8.3,please help
