That's sad... Bloodfin Tetras are cool. What filter do you use. Maybe you should try a smaller one.

Thanks. My readings are 0, 0, and nitrate is 10. I think they may have been too stressed or since i live in Michigan they melting runoff may have shifted the pH

Armand sorry your haveing trouble. I recently had the same thing happen was shocked zero ammonia zero nitrite and nitrate only at 10 which is low. I even have live plants, not overstocked water clear they were eating and swimming fine. And within a 2 hour period all were hiding and then next they were dropping like flies!!

The only thing I can think of is

A) from what I've heard tap water in Spring (for whatever reason) can change drastically in ph or other things. So you might want to test that. Mine was fine Ph same everything else tested 0. Except 0.25 ammonia which my dechlorinater binds anyway.

and

B) Did you change any products to a different brand? I switched dechlorinater's and from what I've read on these forums. The one I chose has extra sodium in it to irritate the fish's skin so the fish produce more slime coat.

In my opinion I think if doing weekly or monthly water changes over time the fish would have built up a strong slime coat and would be fine. Only problem was for 4 days in a row I had to do daily water changes for that certain tank and I think they got way too much sodium

I hope this helps sorry it's lengthy but when my fish started going down hill mysteriously the more info I got the better and more prepared I felt to stop it

I woke up to find my baby Bloodfin Tetra stuck to the filter...dead. I tried to pull him but he was already dead.
