Anyways, it hopefully helps a bit and adds to what FishChannel.com does.

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

As always, suggestions and recommendations are welcome.

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

HHHeeeeeelllllllooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally made it! FishsheetA6 is finally finished and ready for its first public appearance. Unlike my earlier fishsheets, this one finally contains individual species and it also cross-references loads of other information. Another cool attribute is that it can account for feeding schedules, which is something no other fishsheet has even come close to.

Despite the radical changes (and I do mean radical), the heart of FishsheetA6 is very much the same as other versions: help aquarists select the right fish for them. Now that FishsheetA6 "knows" over 240 types of fish and their basic needs, the fishsheets are beginning to come into their own. Please check it out! (I have made multiple versions that can be accessed via the first post of this thread--some are kinda big, however, because of file formatting).

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

Thanks much

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

no, but i can have it ready soon. thanks for reminding me, because its progress was at a standstill.

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

Hello All,

Have a question for plecodiscus: is your post ready for inclusion in the book?

Thanks,

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

Hi MAO, thank you for your continued helpful information. Additionally, the newest spreadsheet is up. Sadly, however, the customizable spreadsheet is still being adjusted as is a new sheet I am calling "ChronoFishsheet." It will allow aquarists to track changes for up to 102 water changes (3-24 months for most users). Also, it projects trends based on current averages of your tank dynamics and updates immediately. It should be a great asset for dedicated and new aquarists alike.

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

Nikita,

Good point...multiple graphs would hve its advantages. It's easy to use, and since I'm a visual person, I'm really appreciating the accompanying graph of the results that changes as you input the data. I also like how customizable it is.
Since hardness and buffering capacity are important in my setup because I have a pretty heavy plant load and fish that prefer soft water, can those two elements be incorporated into the graph? Is there a DIY way to do that, or would you have to put it into the setup yourself? Someone just starting out with cycling their tank wouldn't need to worry about this, but I'd love to use this chart to manage my chemistry values on a regular basis.

The pH and hardness deviance was a nice touch. Makes the amount of change more concrete, I think.

And now that I'm thinking about it, maybe separate graphs for some of the parameters? It's going to be hard to compare some of the parameters on the same graph and have it make visual sense, considering the differences in the numbers themselves. Just a thought.

I think it looks awesome, MOA.

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

9,000+ Views!!! Despite that the base formula is a series, the formula can be simplified down to a rational expression. Anywho, I incorporated it as means to predict the catostrophic failure point of a given aquarium system--assuming that a fairly average aquarium should receive a thorough flush at least once every 2 years or so.

Have Fun,

MOA

RE: Freshwater Stocking Guide: A Reference for Beginners

Hello Mates,

I'm just doing some fiddling.
