Unfortunately they were eaten but the good news is that it wasnt by the parents. So that gives me hope that in 2 weeks I will put the parents into the breeding tank that I have ready for them now. I would have tried to rescue a few of the wigglers into that tank and although the tank is and has been cycled forever I was keeping the sole tiger barb (the one that needed a home) in there to keep it going .....well something happened to him and I went into the front room (kept the tank in a quiet place for when the Angels spawn).....anyway I went in there and it looked like the poor thing had hemmoraged???? I dunno how or what happened but it appeared to have popeye, so after that I was afraid to put anything in there right away until I have time tomorrow to do the proper testing and all to see if something is outta whack with the water.

So guess we are both back to the drawing board with these Angels huh? Lets keep our fingers crossed for each other!!

RE: Wigglers

If you want to try to save some of the wigglers, one thing you could try (if the parents will let you) is to carefully scrape some of the wigglers off the slate with a credit card or other similarly shaped piece of plastic. Place them in a cycled 2-10 gallon tank, and treat them like you would any fry. Live baby brine shrimp would be best, but you would probably get a few survivors with crushed flake or frozen baby brine shrimp.

You would probably want to cover the filter intake with a sponge prefilter to avoid any wigglers getting sucked up into the filter. Or use sponge filters period.

If you don't want to go to all that trouble, then I would think adding a large clump of hornwort could only increase the fry's chances, although in a community tank, I wouldn't expect many, if any survivors.

Good job on getting them to spawn though!

Wigglers

So far so good on the Angel eggs......they have little tails now its too adorable......I feel so badly for them tho because they are just starting to separate from the slate a little here and there and the parents are frantically chasing them, putting them in their mouths and spitting them back onto the slate..........unfortunately I know soon they cant watch them all and the other fish will get to them...................Nows the time I wish I had a huge extra tank to put the other Angels and the Gouramis in to keep the little guys safe.

Wondering if I put some live floating plants in there will that help? Ive never had real plants before but I know that my guppy fry love to hide in the floating plastic ones.

Or I should just concede that this batch wont be able to make it as I didnt get them out into their breeding tank in time?.......Its very sad but also comical as they look like parents of a large family trying to chase them and contain them at Disney World
