I am interested in either the Occilaris or the Percula and the Sebae Black Clowns. If I get a pair of both species, will they coexist with eachother or will they get too territorial and/or compete too much for food? The tank is 72 gallons, so space isn't much of an issue and so far we have 3 chromis, 1 yellow tail damsel, 1 black damselfish and 1 flame angel. They all get along with eachother, so I am not concerned about them, plus we have an emergency tank set up in case something happens. There are plenty of caves and hiding spots and all the fish sleep together in the same spot anyway. So far I have heard both yes and no equally.

13 day old clown fish dying on transfer

Do i need to keep the clown fish underwater for a peroid of time or just not put in bigger tank for another week or 2

Lion Fish

I hear Lion Fish are extremly dangerous, but I want one.

If anyone who has had one, can you tell me what it is like to keep one and how big a tank size?

Feeding seahorses

In reading about seahorses, a common item that comes up is their need to be fed more often than most other fish. However, I have seen this written with different phrasing that is open to interpretation, some even saying they need fed constantly throughout the day. So how often should they be fed? I, like many others on this board I suspect, work full time and thus am not home for 8-9 hours most days. And of course there are the ~8 hours spent sleeping each night. Does this type of schedule mean I could not feed seahorses frequently enough? Is the constant feeding meant to be throughout a 24 hour day, or just daylight hours? Do seahorses feed when the aquarium lights are out?

serpant stars

Has anyone ever had serpent stars eat fish? Especially some of the bigger ones. I know that sharks need huge tanks with filter systems that cost thousands of dollars, but can find little or no information about keeping sharks in captivity. Does anyone here now anything about keeping sharks?

And another question, I'm looking to start small with smaller sharks and gradually moving to the bigger ones so I can learn, and avoid being eaten right off the bat. Is there a relatively easy shark to available to be bought or found in coastal waters?

umm

how big does a leopard shark need???

if heard 4200 gallons

and i have had sting rays and 1 barrucuda

barrucuda

i have a GIANT reef tank ive been wanting a barrucuda or bicuda for a pet so how big of a tank do i need for 1

Marine Me Club (MMC)

Hello everyone, I am Ella Jane and I really want to become a marine biologist when I grow up. We recently began experimenting with keeping Sheepshead minnows (Cyprinodon variegatus variegatus) I'm putting this in the saltwater section instead of brackish, because from reading, full saltwater seems to be necessary for successful breeding. Unfortunately, past that, we haven't been able to find much easily available information about breeding within a tank setting. Has anyone kept these fish before and do you have any tips about successful breeding?

Tang Help!

My boyfriend and I are clashing when we talk about fish we want to put into our tank. Supposedly he is doing "research" to find out which species get along. He assumes the fish will learn to become less aggressive as they get older. We have agreed to put in a hippo tang and a purple tang because we were told they will be fine together. Out of the blue, he declares he wants to add a mimic tang. Some sources say they get aggressive toward other tangs. We have a 72 gallon tank with over 100 lb of rock and will be adding corals in time, so space at this point is limited and we want to add a flame angel, some clown fish, and other species I can't think of at the moment. We already have 3 green chromis, a yellow tail damsel and a black damselfish, which are all doing great during the cycling (the damsels will most likely need to be removed in the future). The big question is: would it be wise to have that many tangs in our tank setup with several other fish and invertabrates and if so, would he be ok to keep next to a purple and hippo tang?

Which Wrasse?

I'd like to get either a Fourlined Wrasse or a Sixline Wrasse for my new 28 gallon reef tank.
