| I keep my bog and aquatic plants in pots so far and just carry them in to the garage, their calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow here and hard frost in West Virginia. The lilies went back to the bottom of the pond. I was hoping for ideas on protecting them and stimulating early spring growth.

I'm surprised that no one has answered already. But I don't mind being the first.  With my garden pond (boarderline zone 6 and 7; Virginia) I've never pulled pond plants out for the winter. the marginal plants I usually push their pots to the bottom of the pond (my pond is approx. 3ft deep). I've found out that pickeral rush/weed can survive winters without having to go to the bottom of the pond, so I've planted my pond's 8in deep shelf with them and they've been doing fine. My Geogria-native arrowhead marginal plants I don't sink either. If you are going to move your marginals (at least some) into your garrage, in order to get them to grow, you are going to need a lot of light. And warmth. I don't know about your garage, but even though mine is connected to the house, it doesn't heat well. high intensity will be a must inorder to take the sun's place. I don't know a whole lot about light fixtures and such, but if you are still considering it then you might want to look into other light fixtures besides florescent. The Lowes people may be able to answer more questions about that. Alot of people grow tropical plants and seedlings in their basements with intense lighting waiting for spring, so Lowes or other lighting supply stores could help.
