They'll color up in time (as they adjust to their new surroundings, and as they mature). You added all 50 at once though? I know you didn't fishless cycle in this amount of time, and I'm concerned that you are going to end up with a lot of ammonia and nitrite (even though you moved over the other filters). Keep a really close eye on it (test the water every day for at least an week and make sure you keep the ammonia and nitrite under .5ppm since cardinals are sensitive).

Try and feed your cardinals as often as you can, but very small amounts. My good friend Arie DeZwart, who owns and runs Ruinemans Aquarium in Miami, handles the most cardinals of anyone I know. Arie says that everyone in the fish houses knows that whenever they walk by the cardinal tanks they drop in a tiny bit of food. I do the same with the cardinals in my wholesale fish room. They will grow very quickly.
