Ok so we have 125g reef and it is in bad shape at the moment and needs are complete overhaul. Not having a place to put the critters while cleaning up the tank we decided to move it all outside! Ohio summers aren't to bad and it isn't going to be a forever salt pond, unless it work really well! So here is what we have. all DIY. 250g pond, Filter will be kind of a reverse trickle filter waterfall combination made from rubermaid tub. By reverse I mean instead of gravity feed to the sump it will be pumped to the sump and gravity feed back to the pond. We also have a large venturi skimmer we will be running from the sump. I know it's going to be work but has ANYONE out there ever tried this? It's been done but I wanted to hear some ideas! I don't need to hear from the nay-sayers because it will happen.. just need thoughts on set up etc. never had a pond at all!
Thanks! pictures on my blog pages here and more as we go!

hmm... you may wanna invest in some sort of chiller, because the sun may warm the water too much... if you have crabs of any sort whatsoever find some way to keep them from getting out of the water because otheer wise they are definitely gonna escape.

I would tend to agree with Matt is awesome you will have to keep on top of the the water quality due to large amounts of evaporation you may end up with a very high density of salt because salt does not evaporate. The only place I've seen a large setup like what you are planing was at Seaworld and Marineland. But I can't wait to see pictures of your set up. Are you going to set up some type of protection from say birds from enjoying a snack on your fish or floating in the pond?
