i have an eshopps wet/dry filter with an over flow box. the problem that i am having is that the u-tube siphon that takes the water from the inner overflow box to the outer is constantly filling up with air bubbles, which breaks the siphon. wat i am currently doing is taking an airline and sticking it into the the u-tube when this happens, and sucking out the air. but this is a huge hassle as i have to do it nearly every day. does anyone know how to prevent the air from building up, or an easier way of removing the air?

Ideally, in a well made overflow, water will flow through the U-tube fast enough to keep air from being trapped at the top of the tube.

Indeed, the small amount of air there when you establish the siphon should be quickly pushed out by the flow.

Check on things that might be impeding the flow of water through the U-tube: algae buildup in the tube, a clogged sponge or bulkhead fitting in the outside overflow box, or a too-long or bent run of tubing from the outside box to your filter.

If you're unable to increase water flow through the U-tube, you can obtain a replacement U-tube with a port in the top for airline tubing. Attach an airline to the tube and remove the air manually or using a small air pump.

I don't suggest this as it's an inconvenience and expense all around. Look toward getting your current overflow optimized.
