| I currently have a freshwater tank, but want to move to a saltwater reef tank soon! I have researched all the needs for overflows, skimmers, sumps etc. and come to the point to where I am really confused on what I actually need for this size of a tank. Any suggestions on what equipment I need to get my tank going would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

You should re-post this in the saltwater section. They can help you determine if the tank is able to be reformatted into a saltwater tank and how to do it. Has it been a freshwater tank before? I had a 29 gallon tank that I wanted to turn into saltwater, but was not able to since I had used a certain medication in the tank when I had it as a freshwater tank.

What kind of medication? Was it because it was copper based? Because I am about to convert a 20 gallon that I had been using as a freshwater tank. But I have recently had to treat it for ich. That may change my plans real quick.
This all started with a free tank for my daughter.

| Copper stays in a system absorbed by the tank parts themselves and any rock, gravel, or decorations that were in it. So it's a bad idea to try any inverts in it like corals, anemones, shrimp, snails, etc. But you can still use it for saltwaterfish. There are copper based meds for saltwater fish too. It won't harm the fish, just inverts.

OK so if I use the tank only it should be fine. If I scrub it down real good? It was an ICH medication that had formulin in it.

Oh I was gonna put in corrals but I bought a 29 gallon from a breeder this morning and I am gonna start my 29 gallon reef tank. I am tearing down the 10 and putting it all in the 29 once it gets going. I might as well go big because I know I am going to want to get a coral beauty or a flame angel. with a fire fish. So I needed the extra space. Even a 20 wouldn't cut it for those fish and my pair of clowns. Its really too bad that I am tearing down the 10. That 10 is performing great and looking good. With the exception that my pump and lights heat it up to 82-84 degrees. And 81 with a fan going. And thats with mild 70 degree weather I didnt want to see what would happen in the summer. That's the original reason for needing more water volume.

| You know you have been doing fishtanks too long when someone says how large a 29 gallon is and you're thinking, that's tiny! It's an obsesion LOL! I am presently trying to talk myself out of getting the 185 gallon my friend is getting rid of.
