I like the idea of attaching a siphon to the faucet and cleaning that way. I'm looking at a couple online, but I'm confused about the way they work.

I'm currently looking at:

http://www.petsolutions.com/Aqueon-Water-Changer+I15906089+C40003037.aspx

Does it drain the water first and then you can switch the lever and fill the tank back up, are they all like that? I am not super close to the sink (~20 feet), is there a pump or something else that can help start the siphoning action?

Can any recommend one that is easy to get siphoning with the distance I'm looking at?

I have a python and it does empty and fill right from the faucet best thing you can have for the fish hobby..Very simple to use..Buy the length you need...25ft runs about 30 to 35 dollars and worth every penny...I have 5 tanks and I do weekly water changes on all of them...I would have given up the hobby without this nifty tool, it makes the job so simple. It vacuums the gravel as you empty the water and the siphoning starts on it's own with the running water from the sink..You use cold water to drain and vacuum and when I am going to refill I start the water and hold a thermometer under it so I put the same temp water back in...Before I start adding the water back I add my water conditioner to the tank by using a 1 gal. container of water with the conditioner mixed in it...

You add water conditioer as you fill the tank. AS far as water temp is concerned, you don't have to have the new water match the temp of the old water perfectly, in fact, I usually add water that is 4-6 degrees cooler to simulate a large rain fall.
