I voted sort of because it's not like when my dog died. That's like there's  a hole in your life, and that one of your family members has died. I haven't had that kind of connection with any fish, but I feel sad that they've gotten sick and died and that it's such a shame. Especially because fish die such horrible deaths. And I wonder if it's something that I did or if I did everything in my power to make that sick comfortable and happy for its entire life in my aquarium. I think fish dying makes me more guilty that actually sad.

I voted yes, but it's really a mixture of "sort of" and "yes". When it's just a tropical or two, like when I had two tetras die, I'm disappointed, but not truly sad. I just can't get attached to them enough to be very sad about it - it's more that I'm disappointed I couldn't keep them alive.

But, I had a goldfish die and I was heartbroken for awhile. She was one of the first three I had and the prettiest. She was a little princess/diva, but she had personality, and even my fiancee was a little down when she died. I haven't been able to make myself get another yet. I don't know what I'm going to do when the other two of the original trio pass on. The one is admittedly my very favorite fish and losing her will hurt something terrible.

55 gallon
Baby - lionhead/ryukin cross
Westie - lionhead/ryukin cross
Speedy Rodriguez - oranda
Currently searching for a good new tankmate!

planted 29 gallon
3 red eye tetras
4 cherry barbs
2 cardinal tetras
4 albino cories
2 Bolivian rams

I do get a little sad, but it depends on the fish. I just lost a fish overnight and it was probably the saddest I have been over the loss of a fish, but I had the fish for such a long time that I did ultimately enjoy watching him swim, eat and pretend to be a leaf.

But I don't feel like I lost an immediate family member or good friend.

It's worse when you have to euthenize one... or more.  It's hard to walk into a situation where something is already so far gone, that there isn't any way to save it.

I love all my fish.  As of today I lost a lot of them while away from home.  It sure does hurt a lot.

I voted yes. I've never really been attatched to my fish before I got into goldfish(except the two albino catfish I had) but basically once you're able to name the fish and be able to tell them apart, it's awful when they die. like if my tetra Bracksten died, I'd be really sad. he's the only tetra Ive ever had(I might get him some tetra friends, because he's stopped enjoying everyone else. they're all getting bigger than him, so.) i was devistated when my all time favorite fantail died. he was such a pretty gold color, and he was really sleek looking, and he had such a personality. and he was one of the first goldfish I had.

50 gallon heavily planted bowfront
Albino Cory Catfish: Magikarp
Bristol Shubunkin: Zane
Ryukin: Tweak
Calico Fantail: Circe
2 assorted cories
Rubber lipped pleco- Munchlax

tall 25 gallon being set up

non-fish pets:
13 year old Rottweiler: Buggsy
9 year old English yellow labrador: Morgan
2 hermit crabs: Phoebe(foe-bee) and Holden
10 year old thoroughbred gelding: Scottie
I'm so busy lately with new(ish) tanks, school, and work..
