A few weeks ago I purchased a fish from my LFS and it survived for 2 days it died suddenly it died. It had ich but I didn't think anything of it since virtually all fish get it when they are a new tankmate but it suddenly just died I figured it was just new tank stress and didn't worry about it. Then about a week later my Blue Tang and Royal Gramma that I had for four years suddenly had ich!! They previously were healthy as horses! 2 days later they both were dead!! Suddenly all my fish were getting ich and dying!! I was loosing an average of 2 fish a day!! I was trying to get advice from every expert i could think of and they were all speculations on water quality and other parasites even though i could see nothing else and my broad spectrum treatments were not helping at all!!! I did all the water tests over and over and nothing was wrong!!! So I figured it had to be the ich so i dug deeper into my research and found that there is a new strain of ich starting to show up on the market that is immune to all common medications including COPPER!!!!! It is much more virulent and kills fish within 24 to 48 hours of treatment. Now 2 weeks later I have lost EVERY fish that I have, even my mandarin fish which is normally completely resistant!!!I'm writing this because no one seems to have heard about this so wanted to inform people about this incase they get it because by the time I realized what I had it was to late I will post a link to the info I found below. I did find that there are things that still may treat it like Quinine Sulfate and hyposalinity. The one thing that this has taught me is that a quarantine tank is something that you must have!!! For the record I had a 75 gallon tank with 20 fish in it. If you have had experience with something like this or want to just add a comment I would appreciate it! Thanks

Did you quarantine the new fish before you put him in the display tank? Just a question because I quarantine every thing for 4 -6 weeks before any thing goes in the display tank.

No, I did not. That is a mistake I will never make again. I recommend others do the same as you.
