my first fish was a dwarf gourami; I got it along with some neon tetras, a rainbow shark, and a kuhlii loach, but those belonged to my brother and cousins. The gourami was "mine" lol.

My first fish some 40 years ago was a channel catfish. To bad he got to big for my 55 gallon aquarium at the time. Of courses I thought it was big at the time.

My absolute first fish was a baby minnow, about a centimeter and a half long. I had him raised with a couple of yellow snails in a project on ecosystems in fourth grade in the bottom half of a two liter bottle (the top half was a terrarium with crickets and pill beetles with some grass). Our teacher let us decide if we wanted to pollute our ecosystem. I chose not to, because that would be the only way my parents would let me have a fish- he would be killed otherwise So, I went and forced my parents to buy a gallon bowl, some gravel, and a tiny little castle for my fish to live with. I brought little Streaker home (thats what I called him) and he died within the hour. I was so sad, I called my dad and left the most horrid message explaining the ordeal. My dad then came home with a betta in a cup from the pet store. Thats what started me as a fishkeeper. XD

| One day my mother decided we should own some fish, so she went to the pet store and bought a 10 gallon tank and a few common goldfish. Two out of the 4 or 5 didn't last very long, and eventually all but one died out. I felt so bad I nearly cried. This was in 2007 or 2006 when I think I was 6 or 7. The last one survived almost 2 years (RIP Goldie) and grew to be 10 inches long. After that I was hooked on fishkeeping and I'm the the fish expert of the family (at only 13! Ha!) I'm in full responsibilty of the fish tank and right now I'm working on a livebearer tank.

| My first fish was many years ago as a child. I came home from school one day and there was a 10 gallon tank all set up in my room. If I remember correctly it had zebras, neons, swordtails, a cat fish and algae eater. My parents knew nothing about cycling a tank or adding a few fish at a time. They just set it up and stocked it full.
