so, i lost everything (10 male guppies, a kuhli loach, and a rubber lip pleco) in my 10 gallon. im not sure what it was but i think it was the oxygen. i turned off the filter so i could remove and clean the cartridge without making a mess, then, when i came back no more than 10 minutes later, everything was dead. i also wonder whether it was the water i used in the water change i did, but that was 15 minutes prior to this. i havent used conditioner since i ran out a few months ago but my fish have never shown a problem with that. even today: i cleaned my five gallon and ten gallon with guppy fry with the same water without a problem. So im more convinced it was the oxygen from not having the filter on. who knows. Im not too sad, im mainly frustrated and annoyed. i had pretty much all of my males from several batches of fry in that one tank to keep them away from my females, and now theyre all gone. ugh i do have my best male who was in my five gallon and three young males that i cant tell what theyll look like yet that are also in the 5 gallon and thats all.

it wasn't from there not being enough oxegen in the water, most of the time when I do a water change I clean out the filter too, I do it all the time. anyways I am sorry for your losses.

yeah, it was something in the water; my crypts are melting, duckweed gone, and my java moss is on its way out. i dont know if it was in my head, but our water even tasted funny that day after the incident. kinda scary to think that im drinking something that wiped out a whole tank in just a couple of gallons...
