I just purchased my smallest tank, a 30 gallon. It is now fully cycled and I have a black and a dalmation molly. When I set it up the only filter I gad available was a Emprorer 400. Is this too much for this size tank? Thanks everyone.

the thing I would worry about is there might be to water movement.

As others have said, as long as the flow isn't too strong, it should be fine. I use a fluval 405 canister filter on my 29 gallon which is built for an aquarium about triple the size of mine, and I havent had any problems, although the flow is ajustable on it.

| Hi ctemt, I doubt your filter will cause any problems. Decorations and lots of plants will help. Enjoy your fish! SGN

I also don't see a problem with your filter. I use a ehinm 2213 canister with my 40 gallon which is rated for a 135 normal stocking tank.

The bigger the filter the better it seems to work on keeping the tank clean. Keep us up to date on how it works for you.
