| Is it possible to keep a tank happy with just corals in it or do you need fish? I was thinking having hermit crabs and snails would be helpful.

Yeah, it's possible. Personally I think a reef tank would look cooler with a few fish.

Also, bigger is better with saltwater.

| Fish are not "required" but most people put at least a few in one. I have seen nice reefs with just shrimp as display animals.

| I don't know know why you wouldn't want any fish, especially when there is so many cool saltwater fish. I'm sure that it would be fine to keep a coral only tank though, since fish only decrease the water quality.
