Hi everyone! I'm new here and could use some imput. I have a 6.6 gallon Fluval Chi tank and currently have 3 fancy guppies, a mystery snail and a pleco in it. This is the second small community tank I've ever owned and was wondering if it would be feasible to maybe add one more fish, possibly a honey or dwarf gourami?
Yes, I know this is a small tank, but I'm living in extremely cramped conditions right now and this is the biggest one I could use. Hopefully I'll be moving in a year or so to a much more spacious area.
Thanks!!

| I Agree with Katorin. Some plecos get to 2 feet long while other ones stay around 5". I guess it depends on the Speicies of pleco. Do you only have Male Guppies? If you have male and female they will produce up to 50 fry a month if the get pregnant. Maybe you could add 1 More guppy? Allbout some small fish like Neon Tetras? But they have to be in schools of around 4 or more. You could try Platies and Mollies. These are livebearing fish too so if you dont want them to breed just get a Male. (Dont get a female because it could be pregnant). Hope this helps!

GET RID OF THE PLECO. then a dwarf gourami would be feasible.

Hi there, thanks for all the replies.
Not sure exactly what kind of pleco it is. I know it's not a bristlenose. My hubby had one in his tank as a kid and loved it, so that's why we bought him. The salesperson at the pet store said he wasn't one of the ones that grow large and right now, he fits very well in the tank (had him for almost 2 months now).
I really don't want to get rid of him. We both really like him and he's entertaining to watch. If he does start to outgrow us, I'll donate him to a pet store.
All of our guppies are male, so there's no fry in our future. Instead of the gourami though, I think I'll either get a few tiny tetra or another male guppy.
As far as the tank is concerned I keep it very well maintained, with weekly 30 per. water changes and gravel vacuuming, 3 week filter changes, and I test water chemistry weekly.
Thanks again

I would not go for tetras. Tetras really need at least 6 or so to feel comfortable and that would be quite a bit for that little tank, since you already have guppies.
55 gallon
Baby - lionhead/ryukin cross
Westie - lionhead/ryukin cross
Speedy Rodriguez - oranda
Currently searching for a good new tankmate!
planted 29 gallon
3 red eye tetras
4 cherry barbs
2 cardinal tetras
4 albino cories
2 Bolivian rams

| I agree that no more fish should be added and that you should rehome the pleco. Also make sure that you have one male to two female guppies. If there's only one female, then the males will go crazy and harass her too much. Three males I think are okay, though, since there's no female to fight over.
