Hello; I have a question about circulation.

I have noticed that I have a lack of water circulation in the corner of my 55 gallon freshwater tank. The "dead spot" is right next to my CO2 diffuser.

So my question is can I put a circulation pump like a Aqueon 700 under the diffuser?

I know you shouldn't have any type of water disturbance around the diffuser.

I have my filter ( Marineland Emperor 350) on the opposite side of the tank so I got plenty of water movement there.

Looking for ideas.

Thanks;

Dooter

I would eliminate the dead zone. Differentials in CO2 concentration result as your plants consume it and circulation evens things out. An adjustable, 250-450 GPH power head should do the job quite well. Position the power head where it will be most effective and easiest to install & maintain.

I have a total of 5 power heads in my one 75 gallon planted aquarium. Just make sure it does not move the surfice of the water alot. Then run a air bubbler at night when the lights are turn off to help remove the Co2 from the tank.

Yeah, heavily planted tanks need more push.

Ok hope this isn't a dumb question, but..
How come in nature you can find still ponds with no current that are choked with weed growth but in aquariums the plants need circulation?

Not a dumb question.  You wouldn't want a mass of gooey weeds in an aquarium. Even stagnent ponds have some water movement due to wind and convection etc but they don't grow beautiful underwater gardens with tropical plants like we do.  They also frequently have excessive nutrients from livestock and visiting waterfowl etc. which is why they are overgrown with Duckweed and stuff.  There are probably other reasons but this is an answer on the 'fly.' Hope it helps!  SGN
