I'm new here. I love this newsletter. My platys and guppies often get skinny even though they are eating, and then end up not eating and then they die. This seems to be contagious, esp to livebearers, though my Tiger Barbs have this occasionally too. I have been unable to find any info in my books about this except for consumption, which is due to dirty water. I keep my tanks very clean, tho. I do a 30% water and gravel vacuum every 2 weeks. My amonia and nitrates are fine. My tanks are not overstocked, tho they are only 15 gallons. I feed carefully. This seems to happen after a few months in my tank, no matter where I buy the fish. Anyone else have this problem and can I do anything about it? The only thing I've come up with is to remove the affected fish quickly from the tank before the rest of them get it.

First of, please provide the actual numbers for your test results for ammonia, nitrItes, nitrAtes, and PH.

Do you treat your water during water changes?

What sort of filter are you using??

Any live plants or decorations in the tank??

Can you please explain what precautions should be taken at the time of water changes and how the tank should be when the process is going on?? It will be quite helpful.
