I just got some dwarf baby tears for my 2.5 gallon desktop.  I have a 15W florecent plant bulb on it.  The substrate is riversand with some clay plugs from my backyard.  Is there something else i should(or could) do to help the plant?

Seems to me that you have done all you can. The tank is small enough and the light enough that the plant should do well for you.

if i put it on a terrace that i got for my 20G tank would the plants get enough light?  It would get the plants to about five inches from the surface.  The light on the tank is 15W too.

Your 2.5 gallon tank has 6 watts per gallon on it which is a tremendous amount of light. I don't understand your last question. Do you want to put the plant on some sort of shelf inside the 2.5 gallon tank to get it closer to the light?

You might want to try dosing with Flourish Excel. It's a liquid carbon for plants and is used instead of a CO2 system.

I put the terrace in the 20g and had to put some plastic wrap on the taric to keep the sand from falling out of it.  The babby tears is doing ok for being up there for only two days.  The plant are about seven inches away from the 15W light.  The baby tears in the 2.5g are growing and spreading to take up about 1/4 of the tank.  I loves this plant.  Thanks for all the help.

Good deal! That 2.5 has plenty of light for this plant. It will be interesting to see what happens with your 20-gallon tank. Please let us know how it goes. Experimenting is fun huh? What is a taric?

I'm still trying to figure out how to paste a pic in the post.  I use explorer and can only atach pics right now.  The baby tears is doing very good and is spreading.  Some of my fish are hiding under the terrace and are now visible instead of hiding in my driftwood.  I got a 55g for $55 and am hoping to turn that into a headboard for my bed.  I dont feel like buying a $200 hood and light combo so i think that what i will do is a mesh screen cover with 3 or 4 incandesent spotlights shining ito the tank.  I think it will look more like sunlight and i can focus light on a region for accents and for better plant growth.  Any thoughts?
