| Tell us which fish you first had that you really considered to be "your own" (not your parents' fish, etc.).

The first fish I ever had that was mine was a pair of paradise gouramis. I raised and bred them in one of my grandfathers home made glass aquariums with cement instead of silicone joints. I had those fish for about 4 years, and the tank, well I still have that and it still holds water.
I will not buy fish this time, I will not buy fish this time, I willnt buy fish this time, I willt buy fish this time, I WILL BUY FISH THIS TIME. Sometimes my addiction gets the best of me... did I say sometimes

| My first fish were 3 dwarf puffers in a 12 gallon eclipse tank unless you count the 7 or so zebra danios I used to cycle the tank.

| My first fish were sword-tails and guppies. I was 7 years old at the time when my parents decided to allow me my own tank, not just helping with theirs. Oh nostalgia...

I had a goldfish. Back in those days, they put live fish in small, square boxes with a wire handle that looked like what Chinese food carry-out comes in today. I remember how thrilled I was picking out my first fish and also getting a bowl and food. Later, my loving parents realized how lasting that gift would be.
