Hi Every one,

I am really distressed, I just found my Lobster on his side half in and half out of his cave, I touched him and no movement, and put him back on to his legs but he has not moved at all, He was fine and feeding last night, and the water is completely fine as follows

Nitrate 25 mg

Nitrite 0 mg

Ammonia 0 mg

Ph 7.5 mg

I have not changed anything at all in his tank or added anything, he has been fine and happy until now, He was small when i got him and i have had him 2 years, Can some one tell what has happened I am so upset,

Many Thanks, Diz

Hi,

I just had it confirmed my Lobster has died apparently it is nothing I have done but they sometimes just die for no reason, I am gutted, he was the only one I have ever had and he was my real little friend so cute and funny, I will really miss him

sounds like he had a problem molting. Check your water parameters, also if you have soft acidic water or extremely hard water, the lack of or excess minerals can cause molting problems.

Hi Thank you for your reply, He moulted properly and never had any problems at all, right from when I had him he moulted and then grew back his shell and was just fine and has continued to shed his skin and be just fine, this is why it is such a shock to me, The vet said they suffer from a sudden death syndrome no apparent cause, they just roll over and die, sounds weird but I guess he knows about these things, it is just so hard to see his tank empty,

Thanks again for your help.

It's not so much that they die without cause as that they die from things we don't have to ability to find. That'll happen with things like lobsters, crayfish, and shrimp. It's unfortunate. I know you'll miss him.
