I am not well experienced with bettas, actually I've just had the one. Until recently I've had a single crown tail betta in one of those prototypical Betta globes without a filter. It had the round disc betta heater, a couple plants and a light. I began getting a white, milky stuff in the water, sides of the tank and plants. After multiple cleanings with hot water and weekly 100% water changes it didn't go away. A couple of weekends ago I decided to get a 2 gallon marine land tank with a filter. I got new gravel but transferred the plants and heater (as well as the fish) after another cleaning in hot water.

My issue, is that the white film is now in the new tank and all over the plants. Any ideas what it could be? Am I over feeding? I seems to be more and more prominent so I'm thinking it is a fungus or something.

sounds like an aquatic fungus of some sort.. water movement is the key to preventing it but thats tough in such a small setup, with a betta of all things.

I'm going to drastically cut down on feeding the fish. In talking through this with a fellow hobbist I came to the realization that this started shortly after switching to this food:

I'm wondering if the "premeasured" food is simply too much. It does seem like a lot more than when I was using the suggested amount on the previous food:

I'm open to any and all advice!

I've been real vigilant about the amount of food I've been giving him. It appears to have solved the issue. Just thought I'd update the post in case anyone finds it.
