| Hello all, I am in the middle of setting up a 16 gal aquarium and need advice on what to put in it. I have come up with 2 ideas, let me know which one you think is better: 1. 6 Angelfish, 2 Oto Cats, 1 Betta, 1-2 Mystery Snail(s) 2. 8 Rams, 2 Oto Cats, 1 Betta, 4-8 Cherry Shrimp Thanks!

Finny (3/26/2012) Hello all,I am in the middle of setting up a 16 gal aquarium and need advice on what to put in it. Both of these options overstocks the tank by a large number and a betta with an angel fish,TROUBLE to say the least. sorry but it looks like it is back to the drawing board...but don't give up.

Thanks GrubyGuppy! What i will think i will do is just scale back on the # going into the tank then. By the way, I have angelfish living with bettas numerous times and never had a problem. Heck i had them together 2 weeks ago! Anyway, in your opinion, which one do you like better and let me know how much i should scale back. Would 4 angels and maybe 4-5 rams be better?

If you have kept bettas with angels great, but flowing fins and any colour to a betta usually says LETS FIGHT Angel fish get big, and a 16 gal tank is too small.I keep a pair(when breeding) in a 20g high tank. My angel tank(going to be redone) is a 75g and I only kept 6 angels in there. I do not know the dementions of a 16,but I do have a 16 high(20x10x19) and I keep a male/female betta pair and a few coriies in there(4 cories) and would not add anything more to my 16 high.

Yes I have 2 amazon swords in there already and 1 echinodorus. So im starting to think the angels are a bad idea. However, i dont understand the comment about most angels having colour. The dont really besides the marbles i thought? Anyway, what about the rams? Would 4-5 be a good # and will the shrimp be ok with them and a betta?

I mentioned the colour because some angels have black/silver/gold in their marbling and the fins on some can be long,it MAY just be enough to set off an agressive betta(it is in their breeding) What are the dimensions of your tankLxWxH

Like I said it tapers down. It's like a u shape almost! Picture a
square and slowly bring the bottom corners into eachother. I'm sorry if this has confused you more!!! So what's your opinion?
