I have a 56g tall tank i had my cichlids in that i now want to make into a planted tank ive never had a live plant freshwater tank just my reef tank so i dont know how diferent they are.

Im using Eco-Complete Planted Aquarium Substrate but im not sure if the light i have will work or if i just need to change the bulbs its a t5 fixture with an actinic and a 10k bulb in it

i want to put guppys and corys in it but i was wondering if i could put molys in there to i want to have alot of colors and dif fish in it but i dont know what fish will leave the guppy fry alone i guess anything would be a great help on this one for me

this is the only tank my wife let me keep out of the basement so its the one most people so im hopping to make it look fun for everyone to see

oh if u where wondering i move the cichlids into a 75g tank

The 10,000K blub will work. I would replace the other blub with a 65,000K blub for a planted aquarium.

well, moving the tank will help BOTH plant growth and algae growth, haha.
if youre worried about plants not getting enough light because the tank is so deep, maybe try crypts. i have like .5wpg of light in my tank and my crypts are thriving, some over a foot tall. granted it takes a while for them to grow but theyre hardy once settled and can deal with low light.
